Reflections on our Daily Readings
This week we continue our series of reflections on our daily readings from the School Sisters of Notre Dame website.
Sunday, April 18th What is Jesus doing these 40 days, and what are his friends doing? They go fishing. They have experienced Jesus alive and transformed and yet their daily work is where they find comfort. So Jesus comes to them. “It is the Lord!” cries the disciple who is supposed to take Mary into his home. Jesus who washed their feet not so long ago now offers another menial service: he makes breakfast for them. To read more, please Click here.
Homily Helper
Next Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Easter!
John 10:27-30
In order to appreciate fully the import of this beautiful gospel passage, we need to pay close attention to the context. Earlier in chapter ten, Jesus had called himself the good shepherd and then defined a good shepherd as one who loves his sheep and is prepared to die for them. Sheep herding, contrary to some popular conceptions, is a hard and lonely life, but the true shepherd loves his work and gladly accepts many sacrifices in order to keep his flock safe and sound.

Visions: A Pastoral Approach
On April 10th Marc Foley, OCD presented an in-service, “Visions: A Pastoral Approach,” to graduates and students of WTU’s Spiritual Direction Studies Program. We were happy to be joined by others from outside the WTU community who also accompany others on their spiritual journey.
Marc spoke of the teaching of St. John of the Cross regarding visions and revelations, and how spiritual directors may address these issues in a direction session. Marc also spoke of the Church’s teaching on private revelations with consideration on its implications for spiritual directors and pastoral ministers. The presentation was both inspiring and instructive to those present.

Marianne Faulstich, Tracy Doyle,Laura Keanon, Colene Nelson-Harrison, and Dennis received a towel symbolizing the servant leadership and ministry modeled by Jesus Christ. In her words of reflection, Dr. Kathy Brown, Dean of Students and Director of the Formation for Lay Ministry program mentioned all the gifts that our graduates bring to the world through teaching, social justice and parish work.
