Advent Lessons & Carols and the Installation of the Very Rev. Frederick J. Tillotson as President of WTU

Rev. Fred Tillotson, O.Carm.This coming week contains an historic event for Washington Theological Union. On Friday, we hold our annual celebration of Advent Lessons and Carols in conjunction with the Installation of the seventh president of our school, the Very Reverend Frederick J. Tillotson O Carm. Many students, faculty, staff and alumni have contributed their time and talent by singing in the choir, and participating in the service. Many more have decided to make an Advent gift to WTU. For all your support, we are continually grateful.

If you haven’t RSVP’d for the Advent Lessons and Carols, please stop by Chris Costello or my office to let us know you are coming. If you can’t stop by, email us at ccostello@wtu.edu or jknetemann@wtu.edu. You can even send in your response card…it isn’t too late! Advent Gifts may be made on line (click here), via mail, or on December 4th, at Advent Lessons and Carols.

Jerry Hall Scholarship Fund Still Growing!

Rev. Jerome Hall, S.J.In March of this year, the Union very unexpectedly lost one of its full-time faculty, Assistant Professor of Word and Worship Jerry Hall, S.J., who passed away following a brief illness. May 2010 WTU Tour to Turkey and Greece
Teresa Koernke & Joseph Wimmer Photo

Once again professors Theresa Koernke, IHM, and Joseph Wimmer, OSA, are organizing a study tour in the footsteps of John and Paul, May 14-27, 2010, but this time with a greater emphasis on the growth of the early church. Tour members will follow Paul through the ancient Greek and Roman ruins of Athens, Corinth, Thessalonica, Philippi and Ephesus, and read his letters on location. They will experience the spirit of St. John in the city of Smyrna and while walking through the magnificent ruins of Pergamum and Ephesus (Rev 2:1-17).

For more information send an e-mail to professor Theresa Koernke at koernke@wtu.edu.

Theology Enrichment

Washington Theological Union has a wonderful, but little known benefit for alumni, diocesan clergy and local ministers. As a continuing education ministry WTU graciously allows these groups to audit one course per semester for the low, low rate of $340/course! Registration ends next Friday, November 20th, so see the Spring Course offerings and registration form now!
