Conditions
- Laypersons exhibiting academic merit and leadership characteristics who seek a master’s degree as a theological foundation for ministerial leadership in the Roman Catholic Church. Members of religious communities (or aspirants) are not eligible
- Awards made from evaluating a two-page typed essay in which the applicant demonstrates the qualities of scholarship, leadership, service and community in their present experience that will be incorporated and deepened in their theologies studies and future ministry.
- Undergraduate degree with ordinarily at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average (GPA)
- Up to two (2) awards made annually to newly-admitted students; awards subject to funds availability. Cannot be combined with either Ministry Encouragement or Partners aid
- Tuition covered only for those courses specifically required to complete the degree program; fees and books excluded. Total amount of the award is $17500, but not more than $8750 in a given year that is pro-rated according to a semester registration of at least nine (9) credits. Semester funding will be rescinded, if minimum credits are not met. Funding not to exceed the degree time-limit specified below:
- Master of Theological Studies - two years
- Master of Arts (Theology) - two years
- Master of Arts (Pastoral Studies) - three years
- Master of Divinty - four years
- Renewal eligibility requires cumulative grade point average of 3.50
- If degree is not completed, a penalty of 50% of the amount distributed may be assessed
- Non-compliance with official Union policies may result in loss of financial aid
Award Decision
Applicants will be notified of scholarship award decision concurrent with decision on admission
