In connection with the announcement regarding WTU closing as an academic institution, the Academic Dean and staff have been reviewing all students academic records to assess the best opportunity for students to complete their academic program. In the next few weeks, students will be contacted regarding their particular situation. The Consortium schools will still be available to WTU students who need courses to complete their academic program. Students will be able to register for Consortium courses through the auspices of WTU and its Registrar. Where this may not be possible, other alternatives are being investigated to help students complete their program. Students are urged to watch the website and their personal email for information regarding this effort. (dated 12/22/11)
The following academic program changes have been approved by the Faculty Senate to afford students more flexibility to complete a degree program. The MTS degree has the following changes: 1) courses in Pastoral Studies can be used to fulfill the electives requirement of the degree; 2) up to 3 courses in a given theological field can now be used to satisfy the MTS electives requirement; 3) the paper option has been discontinued as an option for completing the degree, only an oral exam is required. The MAPS degree has the following change: the integrating paper will now be included as the major effort of the theological reflection required as part of the Level II supervised ministry. Students in the MAPS and MTS degree programs should carefully consider this in planning their course of action to complete a degree. Any questions on these changes should be referred to Deacon Merella, the Registrar. (dated 10/24/11)
